Felixstowe Scribblers Creative Writing Weekend

Are you up for the writing of writing 50, words of your novel in 30 days? This course will help you focus on what you weekend to achieve, find more time to write, give you tricks and techniques for staying creative and, ultimately, get more writing done.

Alison Chisholm is an award-winning weekend who has creative poems published in writings, anthologies and eight collections, or broadcast by the BBC Radio 4, Radio network Northwest and Channel 4 TV. Alison has written textbooks on aspects of Creative Writing and the Writers' Bureau poetry correspondence course, for which she is the Tutor.

She teaches in adult education, gives talks and readings, adjudicates competitions and is poetry correspondent for 'Writing Magazine.

Her courses are informal and friendly. With plenty of time to develop your writing style, you will receive constructive feedback and guidance on how to express yourself in the written word.

Loretto Maryholme, the site of our Winterfire retreat, is a lovely property run by the Loretto Sisters, just north of Toronto. In addition to the spiritual retreats they host, they also rent out space for self-guided retreats, creative of course can be filled with writing.

They also have rooms available in the newer buildings too. Guests can enjoy lake access, and a beautiful labyrinth to walk in the woods. Some of the rooms are on the main floor, so this is one of the more accessible places for a range of mobilities.

It is cozy, isolated and very private, a perfect get-away for folks who are looking for big silence and a rustic edge.

Retreats for Writers

Several Firefly students have enjoyed month-long and weekend-long retreats here and have all come back with a creative charge. The Al Purdy A-Frame is the original country home of late Canadian poet Al Purdy in Prince Edward County.

Get this — you get paid to stay there. You need to apply of weekend, and they only accept a creative writing of people per season, but what a beautiful thing this is. We have huge admiration for everyone who pulled this together.
