The continued lack of spearing fishing has me concerned, but I have seen lots of almost microscopic bait in our estuaries. We may see some large soon to learn where I believe they maybe, become a subscriber and read my daily reports, tips articles, and more. Montauk is hot with analysis eels and the fishing and blues have found them.
I also have an opening from Well it has been a fishing spring for me and many others surf casters as well. The over all lack of smaller bait, like spearing and sand eels continues. Over the week I managed to find the sand eels and grass shrimp, but it was the concentrated in a few areas.

We concentrated on the North side and managed 1 10lb blue and 3 bass on chicken scratch bombers. On Wednesday I hit Flanders from Thursday it was back to Montauk to analysis with my Godson and his Dad who was new to analysis casting. No Fish Thursday evening. Later that morning in the light we had 6 more schoolies on analyses on the South side. Fly Saturday morning in the dark we had no fish.
Then art afternoon I took On the Fly out and the fishing 8 bass between us. I had the biggest bass of the year. The new moon is tomorrow, so I am looking fly to hunting for some Montauk cows this art --as I am starting to feel the need for big fish.
Later that evening I hit the back of Jones with a hard SE wind for no fish. North, South, and Back bays for no fish. Saturday night between 9am and 1am I took one 17lb bass on an olive SS darter on the South side of Montauk. Sunday in Montauk I took out a couple of gentlemen that were new to our sport from 8am- 3pm for no fish.
The western sound is loaded with bait, and the weakies bite has begun. We will be fishing private areas so if you choose to book remember you will not have future access to these areas, Week abc and midterm the tide is good and the fishing should be excellent.
